How the Gifted Evaluation Process Works
Testing for placement in the county gifted and talented program consists of an intellectual assessment and, for some counties, an evaluation of achievement skills (reading and mathematics). Testing is conducted in the morning in order to maximize attention and performance. Parents can expect the appointment to last anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half. Dr. Picard meets informally with parents and children together at first in order to ensure that the child is comfortable before beginning the assessment. Children are provided breaks during the testing. Dr. Picard will provide verbal feedback within 24 hours and a written report within two weeks of the appointment.
