Testing for placement in the county gifted and talented program is comprised of an intellectual assessment and for some counties, an evaluation of achievement skills (reading and mathematics).  Testing is conducted in the morning, in order to maximize attention and performance.  Depending upon the child’s age, parents can expect this appointment to last anywhere from an hour and a half to two hours.   Dr. Picard meets informally with parents and children together at first, in order to insure that the child is comfortable before beginning the assessment.  Children are provided breaks during the testing.  Dr. Picard will provide verbal feedback within 24 hours, and a written report within two weeks of the appointment.
